Ready, Steady, Wok! Simply Asia Celebrity Cook-Off

Ever get a sushi or Thai food craving that simply won’t let up? Then you must be in need of some Simply Asia! See what we did there?

Last night, Wednesday 29 March, Simply Asia hosted their Ready, Steady, Wok event at the Parktown Quarter store. With exciting celebrities taking part in a Thai food cook-off, it was a very entertaining evening.

The celebrity contestants were 94.7’s radio DJ, Jacob Moshokoa and Muvhugo’s TV star, Innocentia Makapila. The event’s MC was actor and performing artist Warren Le Grange. The three celebrities’ energy and enthusiasm definitely created a vibrant occasion.

The contestants were challenged to prepare two of Simply Asia’s dishes in the timeframe of 10 minutes. The dishes prepared were the 314 (also known the Khao Phad Thai – a scrumptious Thai fried rice dish with beef) and 514 (the Ba-Mee Prik Phao – is a fiery roasted chili paste and cashew nut noodle dish with chicken). At the end of it all, Innocentia Makapila won the competition moving her forward to the Ready, Steady, Wok final. “The flavours and textures were sublime, you could almost say they were up to the Simply Asia standard,” said Ravenesh Subroyal about Makapila’s dishes – he was part of the judging panel and is the Parktown Quarter franchisee. Makapila will be competing against the other two semi-finalists: Chris Forrest and DJ Soosh at the Fourways store on the 8th of April 2017.
