The train will be leaving from Maraisburg Station, 2 kilometers off the N1 highway after the Maraisburg Road turn-off. Safe parking will be provided for the duration of the trip. Their train will consist of several sleeper coaches, an open plan lounge car, a kitchen car and a fully licensed bar car.
Departure time from Maraisburg is at 16H00, with the expected arrival time in Magaliesburg at approximately 18H00.
The train will be staged (parked) for the night at Magaliesburg Station during the New Year’s Eve Dinner and Dance. The train is, in fact, your hotel-on-wheels for the duration of the trip. The dinner/dance will be held in the large covered shed in the picnic area on the southern side of the station.
The venue has a fully licensed bar and restroom facilities, ensuring the party goers don’t need to make back and forth trips between the train and the venue.
Braai packs, which include three types of meat, will be given to guests for dinner along with three types of salad and ‘pap en sous’. They decided on a ‘grid-top’ braai rather than a spit braai, as this gives each individual more leeway in deciding at what time to eat. All the food is included in the train ticket price.
Music entertainment will be in the form of some lekker ‘Boere Musiek’; Lang Arm Sokkie and good old Country Music. Please don’t forget your dancing shoes! Spot prizes will be on offer during some of the dance numbers, so put your best foot forward!
‘Kango’, the kitchen car, will provide you with a nice greasy ‘Babalaas Breakfast’ in the form of an English Breakfast in the diner coach on your return home on the morning of Friday, 1st January 2010. Breakfast will be served on a first come first served basis between 7H00 and 10H00.
The return journey commences at 10H00 on the Friday morning (New Year’s Day), with arrival time back at Maraisburg station at approximately 12H00.
