We know, going out for sushi on date night can be pretty expensive, but we know just the spot where you can enjoy a platter for two under R200! You’re probably thinking that with a price like that, the sushi isn’t great. But we assure you, it is! We’ve tried it ourselves. But back to date night. So, you head to Rainbow Sushi & Chinese Food on Grant Avenue in Norwood (a tiny restaurant but rather cosy) and order the eight piece Salmon Fashion Sandwich, six piece assorted Maki, six piece assorted Nigiri and two hand roll sushi combo for R169.50* to share (price was correct at the time of writing and is subject to change – April 2018). It’s delicious! Just make sure your date isn’t allergic to shellfish first (if this is a first date).

Feel like treating your partner to a fine dining experience? Think wine, amazing cuisine, candlelight and some smooth jazz floating through the air. Yes? Then why don’t your try out LBV in Bryanston? We’ve recently visited and we must say, it was amazing! The menu is rather small, but you’ll definitely feel spoilt for choice as everything sounds divine. A dish we highly recommend is the Pork Belly main – pork cooked to perfection, mustard mash unlike anything you’ve ever tasted, the sweet yet savoury flavour of the bacon brandy jam, and the crispiest crackling you’ve ever crunched on! As for dessert, you definitely need to try the Crème Brûlée. We’ll leave that one as a surprise!
