Top Five Pizzerias in Town

We’ve taken one of the biggest burdens and came out victorious. Yes, friends we took to the streets to compile a list of the top five pizza places in town.

CNR Café & Bistro

This relaxed bistro serves modern South African dishes and boasts a deli and coffee shop with croissants… but that’s not why they are on this list. Have you ever seen a pizza so sexy that you just have to take a photo of it and send it to your mother before you start eating away? Well, there’s always a first for everything. Let’s introduce you to the cream dipped buffalo milk mozzarella, baby marrows and prosciutto pizza. Yes, it tastes as good as it sounds.

Cornuti Stella e Luna

For quite some time now e Luna has been celebrated as one of Johannesburg’s top pizza spots. The beauty of this pizza joint is that they don’t throw the Italian stereotype around like their competitors do and concentrate on real Italian food… and that is why their pizzas are off the hook. Treat yourself to a Stella pizza which comes in the shape of a star and is dressed in chorizo, imported buffalo mozzarella, garlic, chilli and fresh basil.

Ant Café

In the heart of Melville lies one of the best pizza spots in town. From the fires of a wood burning oven to the plate in front of you, Ant Cafe knows their stuff. Do yourself a huge favour and pay them a visit. Our favourite offering at Ant would be the S.A.F.: salami, feta, olives, avocado, garlic and caramelised onion.

There is a place in Fourways which hosts one of the coolest play areas for kids, and fortunately they serve some of the best pizza in the area as well. One of our recommendations would be the Smile which comes with a red pepper pesto pizza base covered in roasted butternut, brie, caramelised onions and wild rocket.

Greenside Café

Not only is it vegan but it’s super healthy and very tasty. Our personal favourite at Greenside Cafe would be the Green 44 which is topped with capers, artichokes, peas, tomatoes, black pepper and cashew cream.
