We’re not calling it Vino Month because we prefer wine (promise), but because this month seems to have plenty of exciting wine events coming up. There’s literally one event for every week of October! Stellenbosch Wine LIVE in Joburg

Date: Friday, 05 October 2018 to Sunday, 07 October 2018

The Stellenbosch lifestyle is making its way up to Joburg! Usually this festival is held in the heart of Stellenbosch, but this year they’re hosting their inaugural Stellenbosch Wine Live in Joburg at the Wanderers Club. This three-day lifestyle event will bring vino lovers Stellenbosch wines from over 40 award-winning producers to sample, sip and enjoy. There’ll also be an opportunity to meet winemakers from Waterford, Beyerskloof, Warwick & many more estates. And if you’re feeling a little peckish in-between sipping, you can feast on delicious food from the Gourmet Food Lane while Pick n Pay Wine Club members will have free access to the Pick n Pay Wine Club Tasting Room for exciting food-and-wine pairings. Pinotage & Biltong Festival

Date: Saturday, 13 October 2018 to Sunday, 14 October 2018

What’s better than a weekend filled with biltong, sunshine, live music, good food and Pinotage? Nothing really, which is why we will definitely be heading to Centurion for the Pinotage & Biltong Festival at Leriba Hotel. It’s going to be the perfect place to indulge a little. The weekend will host 18 wineries, offering about 50 Pinotage varieties for your sipping pleasure, and you can purchase your favourites to take home with you. Publik Wine Fair

Date: Sunday, 21 October 2018

This is the perfect introduction to some of South Africa’s best independent artisan producers. So, if you love your wine, but are looking to try something different, then make sure you get your tickets to the Publik Wine Fair taking place at the Turbine Hall in Newtown. Interesting artisanal wines and a stunning venue – what more do you need to help you unwind on a Sunday afternoon? Expect over 100 wines made by more than 25 different winemakers, and if you find a new favourite, you can order on the spot. There are only 500 tickets available for this event, so hurry!

Veritas Tasting Johannesburg

Date: Tuesday, 23 October 2018

Want to get the opportunity to sip and enjoy some of the best award-winning wines in the country? Diarise the 23rd of October. The 2018 Veritas Awards have just recently held their judging and will be allowing wine lovers the chance to do a wine tasting of their double gold and gold winners at the Bill Gallagher Room at the Sandton Convention Centre. RMB WineX 2018

Date: Wednesday, 24 October 2018 – Friday, 26 October 2018

The ever popular RMB WineX is back later this month with yet another exciting instalment at the Sandton Convention Centre. When it comes to selection, you’ll be spoilt for choice with 800 wines to choose from – mostly local – as well as a variety of fine brandy, Cape Ports, international wines and champagnes too. And if you’d like to grab a bite to eat in-between shopping and sampling, there will also be delicious deli meals from Mastrantonio available. You can get your tickets at the door or online.

Nederburg Wine Dinner

Date: Thursday, 25 October 2018

Join Nederburg Wine and the Fairway Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort for a delectable four-course menu and wine pairing. It’s the ideal evening out if you need a date-night idea for that special someone who happens to love wine. Cost is R425 per person and you’ll enjoy a perfectly paired menu prepared by Executive Chef Jean-Pierre . Make sure you arrive a little bit earlier on the evening to enjoy an aperitif before the dinner begins.
