Joburg was in crisis a few months ago with the shortage of fire trucks, which were all waiting to be repaired. This problem made headlines when residents complained regarding the issue. This put our City’s unsung heroes, our fire fighters, under enormous pressure and reduced their capacity to respond effectively to emergency calls. All that has changed and the city has 29 fire trucks fixed and back on the road.
A report from The City of Johannesburg:
"Good news on the fire truck front. Roosevelt Park fire station now has three fire fighting vehicles that will take the pressure off the Rosebank and Sandton Stations. All these fire fighting vehicles were at the Hamburg workshop for years waiting for repairs".
Some of the repaired fire engines will be sent to stations across the City, including three for Orange Farm, two for Lawley, three for Dobsonville and one for Eldorado Park.
Well done to the City of Johannesburg for getting all those fire trucks back on the road!
